Best Oscar Gowns of the Past Decade

Yes ladies and gentleman, it is the beginning of a new decade. That means we can countdown and make lists of the best and worst dressed of the decade without sounding like idiots. Keeping this in mind, and knowing that the 82nd Academy Awards will air on Sunday it is by all means very necessary to take a look at the best dressed glam girls of the past 10 years at the Academy Awards.

Do you think this list is right? Is there anyone you would knock off and replace?

Laughing and Moving On....Glam Guerilla

Hopefully you’ve found this blog through some link. If you found it through google, a picture, a story, a friend…welcome to Glam Guerilla. It’s going to be quite a journey…and quite a first blog entry.

No dirty laundry, just a warrior, a guerilla, a fighter. Life is a journey. much like fashion and that’s how I will blog and write. So, first of all a brief history and how we all got here.

In early October 2008, a friend mentioned she needed a writer for her blog network. I’ve always been a monstrous fashion fiend. I mean, shopping, reading, loving it. I actually had no idea she loved it as much as I did either, as we had bonded over our mutual love of sport. So, we got together and shook virtual hands, and I was off! I learned so much! I learned that fashion week as an actually bonanza, the Oscars were actually all about who was wearing what and that people actually did care what jeans celebrities were wearing. Interesting, no?

Throughout this journey I was also living my real world live, all of which is very interesting too, full of ups and downs of its own. The one stable part of my life was the writing. Much like some other real world jobs I’ve had, the termination of contract with my friend (who I harbor no ill feelings, she’s a wonderful person) was coming. I saw it in the distance.

It came through a tweet, actually. I woke up early to catch my new faux boyfriend Apolo Ohno on Regis and Kelly. I refused to turn on my computer before it was over..just to keep my Apolo moment alive…and it came “So I need another job…Splendicity and b5 is over.” Oh crap! What to do now?

Well, one thing I know I am going to do (after I cry a bit after realizing that I might not be able to pay a credit card or two for a bit) is laugh. Because Kelly Cutrone can. And if she can anyone can. She had the best quote in her book, If You Have to Cry Go Outside:

The Spirit of a warrior is not geared to indulging and complaining, nor is it geared to winning or losing. The spirit of a warrior is geared only to struggle, and every struggle is a warrior’s last nettle on earth. Thus the outcome matters very little to him. In his last battle on earth a warrior lets his spirit flow free and clear. And as he wages his battle, knowing that is intent is impeccable, a warrior laughs and laugh – Carlos Castaneda

Now, I may like Carlos Castaneda because he’s Mexican and like him even more because Kelly quoted him..but I like the idea of laughing and telling everyone to eff off. And that’s what this blog will be about. Telling the fashion industry to eff off and that luxury can and is fun but it can be ridiculous at times. So…what do you all think?

Under Contruction Loves!

I'm working on getting some fabulous fashion info out to all of you. It'll be there soon!
